Reforestation
One Tree Planted is committed to reforestation, planting over 10 million trees in 2020 alone. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. They also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.
Racial Healing
The Penumbra of the future is a dynamic performing arts, retreat, and learning center developing new work, ideas, and sustainable strategies for social change led and generated by artists.
Mental health
Active Minds is present in more than 800 schools, communities and workplaces nationwide, including 550 student-led chapters. These programs and services empower young adults to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, create communities of support, and ultimately save lives.

Episode 8 features an interview with firefighter Mike Crook, who serves as a fire behavior analyst for the U.S. Forestry Service. In late 2019, Crook traveled to New South Wales, Australia, to help battles some of the country’s most devastating bushfires in decades. How it works
- Mindsailing has partnered with One Tree Planted, an organization working on reforestation efforts worldwide, with specific efforts in North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
- We've committed to the Million Tree Challenge, an effort focused on repairing the Pacific Northwest, where more than 500,000 acres of forest were lost to wild fires last year.
WIDESPREAD IMPACT
Trees are just the beginning. By helping to restore forests, we create a multiplying effect across the ecosystem.
Restored
Forests help restore our environment and build resilience from the effects of climate disasters. One mature tree absorbs carbon dioxide at a rate of 48 pounds per year and can capture and filter up to 36,500 gallons of water per year.
Protected
Forests represent more than just trees. More than 5 million terrestrial species depend on forests for their survival. And forests represent 80 percent of the world's terrestrial biodiversity including plants, animals, fungi and bacteria.
Healthy
Forests support healthier and thriving communities. Trees sustain the natural water balance and the ecosystem to support human agriculture and medicine. In neighborhoods with more tree canopy cover, air quality improves by as much as 15 percent.
